SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is among the teams slated to compete in the Zip Zone Express Tip Off Classic at Martin County High School on Saturday, Nov. 25.
A title contender heading into the 2023-24 boys’ high school basketball season, Magoffin County is matched up against 15th Region rival Prestonsburg in the opening game of the Zip Zone Express Tip Off Classic. The Magoffin County-Prestonsburg game is scheduled to start at 10:40 a.m.
Both Magoffin County and Prestonsburg showed improvement in the 2022-23 boys’ high school basketball season.
Magoffin County, under the direction of Coach Scott Castle, opened preseason practice in mid-October. The Hornets are back on the court after compiling a 16-11 record in the 2022-23 boys’ high school basketball season.
Prestonsburg, under the guidance of first-year head coach Chase Parsley, put together a 14-15 record in the previous prep hoops campaign.
Magoffin County is slated to visit 14th Region member Wolfe County for a 2023-24 season opener on Thursday, Nov. 30.
The top preseason boys’ high school basketball event in the state, the Zip Zone Express Tip Off Classic will feature many of Kentucky’s top players.
