SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is set to host Lawrence County for a Class 3A, District 8 matchup on Friday, Oct. 11.
Lawrence County notched a Class 3A, District 8 win over Magoffin County during the 2023 high school football season. The Bulldogs beat the Hornets 35-14 on Oct. 6, 2023.
Magoffin County is 1-6 overall and 0-2 in Class 3A, District 8. The Hornets defeated Lewis County earlier in the season. However, Magoffin County has dropped games to Montgomery County, Leslie County, Russell, Martin County, Belfry and Powell County.
Magoffin County will be looking to bounce back after suffering a heartbreaking loss to Powell County in Class 3A, District 8 matchup on Friday, Oct. 4. Powell County outlasted Magoffin County 54-50.
Lawrence County is 4-2 overall and 1-1 in Class 3A, District 8. The Bulldogs have notched wins over Rowan County, Shelby Valley, Harlan County and Estill County. But Lawrence County has dropped games to Perry County Central and Belfry.
Reigning champion Belfry pulled away to defeat Lawrence County 49-12 in a Class 3A, District 8 matchup on Friday, Oct. 4.
Magoffin County has regular season games remaining versus Lawrence County, Estill County and Morgan County. Both Lawrence County and Estill County are Class 3A, District 8 rivals for the Hornets.
Kickoff for the Magoffin County-Lawrence County game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
