SALYERSVILLE – After being out of action following a 57th District loss to Johnson Central on Tuesday, April 27, Magoffin County is poised to visit familiar opponent Menifee County for a non-district game in the 2021 high school softball season.
The Hornets are scheduled to visit 16th Region member Menifee County on Thursday, May 6.
Earlier in the season, Magoffin County pulled away to defeat Menifee County 18-3 in four innings. The previous Magoffin County-Menifee softball game was played on April 20.
Magoffin County is 7-9 overall and 1-2 in the 57th District. The Hornets have notched wins over Menifee County, Floyd Central, Betsy Layne, East Ridge, Jackson City, Martin County and Breathitt County. Magoffin County has dropped games to Johnson Central, Shelby Valley, Breathitt County, Belfry, Perry County Central, Rowan County, Pikeville, Grant County and Paintsville.
Menifee County was 0-10 at press time. The Cats were scheduled to visit Elliott County on Wednesday, May 5.
Magoffin County has won three of its last five games. The Hornets continue to show improvement in the 2021 high school softball season.
Magoffin County has additional regular season games remaining versus Pike County Central, Elliott County, Prestonsburg, Floyd Central, Shelby Valley, Betsy Layne, Martin County, Lawrence County, Robertson County, Belfry and Morgan County.
First pitch for the Magoffin County-Menifee County softball game is set for 6 p.m. in Frenchburg.
