SALYERSVILLE – Following three seasons at the helm, Magoffin County native Brandi Jo Howard has resigned from her position as head coach of the Pikeville High School softball program.
Howard replaced Dave Thomas as Pikeville head coach in 2019. Over two seasons (2019, 2021), Howard compiled a 55-23 record.
After reaching the semifinals two years earlier, Pikeville finished as the 15th Region runner-up in the 2021 high school softball season. The 2020 high school softball season was canceled due to COVID.
Howard guided Pikeville to a 29-11 record in the 2021 high school softball season. Under Howard’s guidance, Pikeville edged Shelby Valley 3-2 in the 2021 59th District Softball Tournament title game.
A perennial 15th Region title contender, Pikeville finished 26-12 following a loss to Johnson Central in the 2019 15th Region Softball Tournament Semifinals.
A Magoffin County High School graduate, Howard excelled for the University of Pikeville softball program after an exceptional prep career.
Howard vacated the position of Pikeville High School head coach to pursue another career opportunity.
Following Howard’s resignation, Pikeville High School officials are searching for a new softball head coach.
