HWMS Baseball prevails over Martin County 11-8

Scorekeepers were kept busy during a high-scoring contest between Herald Whitaker Middle School Hornets and Martin County Middle School where Herald Whitaker Middle School Hornets prevailed 11-8.

Martin County Middle School got things moving in the first inning. Martin County Middle School scored on a stolen base during Ryan Stevens’s at bat. Then Stevens singled.

Herald Whitaker Middle School Hornets took the lead for good with ten runs in the third inning. In the third Kaden Litteral singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Braxton Howard singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Brayden Carroll singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Parker Bowling doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, Isaac Howard grounded out, scoring one run, Troy Salyer doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Herald Whitaker Middle School Hornets, and Howard doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Martin County Middle School scored four runs in the fifth inning. Martin County Middle School big bats were led by J Cline, #17, and Fletcher, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Bowling was credited with the victory for Herald Whitaker Middle School Hornets. Bowling surrendered eight runs on three hits over four and a third innings, striking out seven. Khauner Baine threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

C Mills took the loss for Martin County Middle School. The bulldog surrendered 11 runs on eight hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Herald Whitaker Middle School Hornets saw the ball well, racking up eight hits in the game. Howard and Walker Russell each racked up multiple hits for Herald Whitaker Middle School Hornets. Russell and Howard all had two hits to lead Herald Whitaker Middle School Hornets.

Martin County Middle School stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. A Horn led the way with three.
