SALYERSVILLE — The Herald Whitaker Middle School football team compiled a 5-0 record in the EKMC, its conference, during the regular season.
Carrying momentum into the postseason, HWMS remains a conference title contender. The Hornets, under the direction of Coach Nathan Perkins, outscored opponents 156-32 in the conference games during the regular season.
HWMS defeated Fleming-Neon Middle School 48-32 in the semifinals of the EKMC Football Playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Following its victory, HWMS advances to meet host Letcher County Middle School in the EKMC Championship Game on Saturday, Oct. 12.
