James Edward “Jimmie” Allen

James Edward “Jimmie” Allen age 93 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Friday, October 20, 2023 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. He was born April 02, 1930 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Alex H. and Thelma Flint Allen. He was the paternal grandson of Byrd and Lola Howard Allen and maternal grandson of Win Flint and Nanny Brown and step-grandson John Brown, with all proceeding him in death.

Jimmie was married to Beulah Taulbee on August 13, 1960 in Salyersville, Ky. They remained together until 2007 when Beulah made her heavenly journey home.

Jimmie is survived by his two daughters, Alice Lynn Allen of Salyersville, KY and Nina Gayle Allen of Cincinnati, OH. Jimmie was always there to be supportive, loving and caring to his daughters no matter the situation.

Jimmie is also survived by a special cousin who was more like a granddaughter to Jimmie, Danielle Shay Stephens.

Jimmie had three fur grand babies that survive, Holley(dog), John(cat) and Rose(cat).

Jimmie had two sisters who proceeded him in death: his older sister Lola Jane Allen and his younger sister Barbara Gayle Allen Jasper.

Jimmie is survived by multiple nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces and too many friends to count .

Jimmie will be greatly missed by his family and friends who loved him, but we are comforted to know that he is in the arms of our blessed Lord and savior. No more pain, no more suffering. Only peace and rest.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from the Salyersville First Baptist Church with Ben Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Bluegrass Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky.

Masonic rites were conducted Monday evening by the Salyersville Lodge #769 F&AM.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.

    I remember Jimmie,
    I think he graduated one year ahead of me from Salyersville High School. My condolences to his family and friends.
