James J. Howard age 78 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Hazard ARH in Hazard, Kentucky. He was born May 22, 1944 in Maggard, Kentucky to the late Harlow and Lillie Marie Howard.
Survived by his wife, Patty Jo Howard, one son, James Harlow “Jamie Mac” (Melissa) Howard of Salyersville, Kentucky, two daughters, Benita Linette “Dar” Howard, Bridgette Annette Howard both of Salyersville, Kentucky, one brother, Vincin Howard of Nashville, Tennessee, four sisters, Carol Sue Phipps of Salyersville, Kentucky, Cathy (W.J.) Salyer of Flat Fork, Kentucky, Teresa (Timothy) Vance of Princeton, Kentucky, Lisa Renae Howard of Lexington, one sister-in-law Linda Lou Howard, four grandchildren, Jessica Ann (Jack) Prater, Brittany Rae (Justin) Maynard, Cameron Jeremiah Colton McNew, Wesley Chadwick (Gabby) Howard, one step-granddaughter, Haley Blankenship, three great grandchildren, Riley Grace Howard, Addilyn Jace Howard, and Rayce Thomas Maynard.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by one infant son, James Southwell Jarrell Howard, and one brother, Denzel Howard.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 02, 2023 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Vince Caldwell officiating. Burial followed in the Mose Howard Cemetery at Coon Creek, Kentucky.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
