Joy Howard Salyer, age 89, a resident of Paintsville, Kentucky; formally of Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Riverview Nursing Home in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
Joy was born August 11, 1934 in Royalton, Kentucky the daughter of the late Adam and Dollie Joseph Howard. Husband, Herman Salyer; sisters, Geraldine Salyer, Emma Holliday, Marie Holliday; brothers, Johnny Howard, Bobby Howard, A.B. Howard, Alvin Green Howard; also preceded in death.
Mrs. Salyer was employed as a nurse aide in the medical field till her retirement. She was a devoted wife and mother to Herman and John. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Those left to mourn include son, John F. Salyer of Paintsville, Kentucky; sisters, Olga Lee Powers of Salyersville, Kentucky, Rita Adams of Salyersville, Kentucky; brother, Ronnie Howard of Salyersville, Kentucky, a host of friends and family who love and miss her.
Funeral services for Joy Salyer were conducted Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from the chapel of the Salyersville Funeral Home. Clergy Randy Haney delivered comforting words on the day of services. Interment followed in the Roark Cemetery on Burning Fork Road in Salyersville, Kentucky.
