WEST LIBERTY — Magoffin County defeated Morgan County 3-1 in its regular season finale on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
With the win, Magoffin County improved to 7-14.
As a result of the loss, Morgan County dropped to 4-17.
Longtime rivals, Magoffin County and Morgan County compete in bordering regions.
The Lady Hornets finished strong to notch the win. Magoffin County (15th Region), under the guidance of Coach Andrea Preston, defeated Morgan County (16th Region) 25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 25-12.
Among the most improved high school volleyball teams in the 15th Region, Magoffin County registered its third straight win. Magoffin County exited the regular season on a three-match winning streak.
The Lady Hornets defeated Morgan County for the second time in the 2024 high school volleyball season.
Individual statistics from the Magoffin County-Morgan County volleyball match were unavailable at press time and will appear in next week’s edition.
Magoffin County is preparing to compete in the 57th District Volleyball Tournament.
