SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County senior pitcher Lucas Litteral ended the 2021 high school baseball season ranked fourth in the state in strikeouts.
Litteral pitched in 14 games for Magoffin County during the 2021 high school baseball season, making 11 starts. One of the top high school baseball pitchers in the state, Litteral recorded 121 strikeouts in 59.1 innings.
Litteral ranked behind Hart County’s Devin Roten (125 strikeouts), Campbellsville’s Arren Hash (125 strikeouts) and Nicholas County’s Dalton Davenport (128 strikeouts) in the key pitching category.
The ace of the Hornets’ pitching staff, Litteral compiled a 6-2 record during the 2021 high school baseball season. Litteral posted one save and put together a 2.01 ERA in the spring.
Magoffin County showed much improvement throughout the 2021 high school baseball season, concluding the campaign 16-12.
Versatile, Litteral excels pitching a baseball and passing a football.
Currently, Litteral is back on the gridiron, preparing to help lead Class 3A, District 8 member Magoffin County in the 2021 high school football season. Litteral thrived as a passer for Magoffin County during the COVID-shortened 2020 high school football season, completing 81 passes for 1,449 yards and 18 touchdowns. He is due to be back on the mound pitching for Magoffin County in the 2022 high school baseball season.
