Litteral leads Hornets in passing, rushing

SALYERSVILLE – Senior quarterback Lucas Litteral is leading Magoffin County in passing and rushing.

With Litteral taking snaps, Magoffin County has opened the 2021 high school football season with back-to-back wins over Prestonsburg and Knott County Central.

Through the air, Litteral has completed 19 of 35 passes for 414 yards and six touchdowns. The Magoffin County quarterback has thrown two interceptions.

On the ground, Litteral has rushed 26 times for 187 yards and two touchdowns.

In addition to Litteral’s effort on the ground, Aden Barnett, Grayson Whitaker and Ben Lafferty have each delivered one rushing touchdown for the Hornets.

As a team, Magoffin County has rushed 55 times for 290 yards and five touchdowns.

Pacing Magoffin County’s receivers, Barnett has hauled in five receptions for 176 yards and three touchdowns.

Following Barnett, Whitaker has reeled in seven receptions for 144 yards and one touchdown.

Aiding the Hornets’ aerial attack, Brad Standifer and Russell Cruz have each caught one scoring pass.

Curtis Jenkins and Kajun Williams have recorded 23 tackles apiece to lead Magoffin County’s defensive unit.

Following Jenkins and Williams, Ben Lafferty has logged 20 tackles for the Hornets.

Chris Gamble-coached Magoffin County competes in Class 3A, District 8.

After venturing to Bellevue, Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Lawrence County for its Class 3A, District 8 opener on Friday, Sept. 17.
