SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 20, 2023) – Today, Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman announced more than $420,000 in funding for safer roads and infrastructure in Magoffin County.
“Investments in our communities provide Kentucky a solid foundation for building tomorrow’s economy,” Lt. Gov. Coleman said. “Opportunity is coming to all corners of the commonwealth. As a mom, and as lieutenant governor, it is exciting to be a part of building a better Kentucky for everyone.”
“Once again Gov. Beshear is providing much-needed funding to repair Magoffin County’s roads, many of which haven’t been resurfaced since the 1980’s,” said Magoffin County Judge/Executive Matt Wireman. “He understands the importance of safe, well-maintained roads for our school children and residents. In addition, we are overwhelmed to receive the grant to purchase essential equipment for our recycling program. We welcome Lt. Gov. Coleman with open arms to our community and look forward to her presenting us with these monies that are sure to create a positive, meaningful impact on our citizens.”
Transportation
Lt. Gov. Coleman announced $354,916 in funding from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The funding will be used to resurface portions of Bull Creek Road, Hammonds Fork Road and Meredith Branch Road.
“These road resurfacing projects will go a long way toward making travel on Bull Creek, Hammonds Fork and Meredith Branch safer and smoother, and I’m extremely pleased to see the investment here in Magoffin County,” said Rep. John Blanton of Salyersville. “They are exactly what the legislature intended when we provided funding through the state budget and will benefit this area for years to come.”
“While I wish I was able to attend the celebration in person, I want to express gratitude to my fellow lawmakers, local and state officials and everyone who made the awards possible,” said Sen. Brandon Smith of Hazard. “These crucial funds will make a massive difference for the residents of Magoffin County. I appreciate the lieutenant governor coming to Salyersville this afternoon to celebrate with the families of the 30th district.”
Recycling and Solid Waste
Lt. Gov. Coleman announced $65,189.72 in funding from the Energy and Environment Cabinet to the Magoffin County Fiscal Court. The funding will be used to purchase a skid steer loader. This is part of the $6.5 million in funding Gov. Beshear announced in June for grants to local governments, fiscal courts and universities for 76 projects to expand recycling, reduce the amount of solid waste going into landfills and improve the handling of household hazardous waste.

So our state representatives had a scheduling conflict? Both of them!! Hillary wasn’t going to be there, Or was she? She has been everywhere else this week. It’s a big deal for the folks living in those roads and not to bigger of a deal for at least one to show for the photo opt. You all wouldn’t loose your MAGA card. BTW Daniel Cameron has Zero chance.
