SALYERSVILLE – Remaining in the win column, Magoffin County defeated visiting Robertson County 12-2 in five innings in a high school softball game on Saturday, May 22.
Magoffin County took control early and forced Robertson County to play from behind during the high school softball game.
Holly Handshoe earned the win in the circle for the Hornets.
Handshoe allowed two runs on two hits while giving up one walk and recording eight strikeouts in five innings.
Haley Flack took the pitching loss for the Black Devils. Flack allowed 12 runs on 12 hits while giving up three walks and recording three strikeouts over four and one-third innings.
Magoffin County scored a dozen runs on 10 hits in the victory.
Handshoe (2-for-2, one RBI), Makenna Jordan (2-for-4), Jaden Williams (1-for-2, two RBIs), Presley Smith (1-for-3), Kaylee Morrison (1-for-3), Ashlyn Patrick (1-for-3, two RBIs), Rylie Castle (1-for-3, one RBI), Jaylynn Lafferty (1-for-2) and Katie Howard (one RBI) contributed at the plate for the Hornets.
Flack and Krysta Hamm collected one hit apiece for the Black Devils as part of a limited offensive effort. Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Flack drove in one of Robertson County’s two runs.
Robertson County competes in the 10th Region.
