Magoffin County to visit Bellevue for third game

SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Bellevue for its third game in the 2021 high school football season on Friday, Sept 10.

Under the direction of head coach Chris Gamble, Magoffin County will remain on the road for the third straight week.

The Hornets are 2-0 after claiming back-to-back wins over Prestonsburg and Knott County Central.

Magoffin County pulled away to beat Prestonsburg 34-6 in a season opener on Friday, Aug. 27.

Remaining in the win column, Magoffin County knocked off Knott County Central 38-32 on Friday, Sept. 3.

Through the Hornets’ first two games, quarterback Lucas Litteral has passed for over 400 yards.

Litteral leads the Hornets in both passing and rushing.

The Hornets’ offensive attack has been balanced. Magoffin County has rushed for nearly 300 yards.

Aden Barnett is currently pacing the Hornets in receiving.

Bellevue is 0-3. The Tigers have dropped games to Holy Cross (Covington), Metcalfe County and Bishop Brossart. Through three games, opponents have outscored Bellevue 138-13.

Limited through its first three games, Bellevue has rushed 101 times for 328 yards and two touchdowns. Bellevue has picked up only four passing yards.

Accounting for most of Bellevue’s offense, running back Zach Noonchester has rushed 65 times for 275 yards and one touchdown.

Magoffin County has regular season games remaining versus Bellevue, Lawrence County, Belfry, Floyd Central, Pike County Central, Clay County and Morgan County.

Kickoff for the Magoffin County-Bellevue football game is set for 7:30 p.m..
