Mitchell Noah Reed

Mitchell Noah Reed age 87 of Grape Creek Road, Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday morning, March 01, 2023 at his home. He was born September 12, 1935 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Arnton and Bonnie (Patrick) Reed.

Survived by his daughter’s Susan Blanton and Mary Lou Sparks of Salyersville, Kentucky, Carolyn Reed of Michigan, son’s Danny Lynn (Sara) Reed of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, David Mitchell (Judy) Reed, Jay Darren (Missy) Reed both of Salyersville, Kentucky, two brothers, Johnny Reed, Gordon Reed both of Salyersville, Kentucky, four sisters, Francis Allen, Dottie Ward both of Salyersville, Kentucky, Georgia Statzer of Hamilton, Ohio, Beverly Hill of Lexington, Kentucky, twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mitchell is preceded in death by his wife Sandra Sue Dingus Reed, infant daughter Carolyn Gayle Reed, grandson Aaron Sherman Reed, great-granddaughter Rebecca Gayleene Sparks, son-in-law Phillip Gervin Blanton, ex-daughter-in-law Sheila Lyn Cantrell Reed, three brothers Henry Reed, Donald Reed, Pat Reed, and one sister Betty Gay Allen.

Over the years Mitchell had many jobs to support his family. He was a carpenter and a firefighter in the late 70’s. Through Mayo he received certification in electricity and carpentry. Mitchell worked hardest at farming up until recent years. He farmed tobacco, corn, sorghum, and cattle.

His most important role was not a job, but as a man of faith, it was being an Apostolic preacher, Mitchell built his church around 1981 that begun with his family being the first members. Many different people came through that church over many years. Mitchell was a traveling evangelist, which he did for many years until planting his feet into the church he built.

He always loved his family and never failed to tell them when he saw them. He also loved everyone he ever met and always looked for the good in people. He would say, “He wanted everyone to make it to Heaven.”

Funeral services for Mitchell were conducted Sunday, March 05, 2023 from the White Oak Pentecostal Church with Danny Reed officiating. Burial followed in the Reed Cemetery at Grape Creek, Kentucky.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
