PIKEVILLE – The third-annual Mountain Grrl Experience is slated for this weekend, starting today and running through Saturday, with some local well-known talents on the lineup.
The event raises money for the local domestic violence shelter, Turning Point Domestic Violence Services, to purchase supplies for art and music therapy, raising $3,000 last year, alone, with over 700 attendees. The event features female artists and small business owners, with music acts and interactive workshops scheduled throughout the event.
The Mountain Grrl Experience is a free event this year, and will be held at the Live Music Stage (Mountain Top Media Stage), located adjacent to the Appalachian Wireless Arena, at 126 Main Street, Pikeville, KY 41501. Seating will be available at this stage.
Most workshops and other live music performances will take place at the Rose Stage, in the Pikeville City Park, located at 101 Cumberland Ct., Pikeville, KY 41501. You may want to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit at the park.
The Art Exhibit will be at the Appalachian Center for the Arts (aka The APP), located at 218 2nd St., Pikeville, KY 41501.
