Nine matches fill August portion of Lady Hornets’ schedule

SALYERSVILLE — Nine matches fill the August portion of Magoffin County’s 2022 schedule.

The Lady Hornets have matches scheduled versus Lawrence County, Morgan County, Betsy Layne, Paintsville, Prestonsburg, Johnson Central, Jackson City and Piarist School later in the month.

Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Lawrence County for its opener in the 2022 high school volleyball season on Monday, Aug. 15.

Following the season opener at Lawrence County, Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Morgan County on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Magoffin County is slated to host Betsy Layne for its home opener on Wednesday, Aug. 17.

During the second week of the 2022 high school volleyball season, Magoffin County has matches scheduled versus Paintsville (Aug. 22, home), Prestonsburg (Aug. 24, home) and Johnson Central (Aug. 25, away).

Closing out the month, Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Jackson City (Aug. 29) and the Piarist School (Aug. 30) before hosting Johnson Central (Aug. 31).

The Lady Hornets opened preseason practice in July. Magoffin County competes with Johnson Central, Martin County and Paintsville in the 57th District. Paintsville is the reigning 57th District volleyball champion.

Magoffin County compiled a 5-20 record in the 2021 high school volleyball season. Showing improvement, Magoffin County notched back-to-back wins during the final week of the 2021 high school volleyball season.
