Smith, teammates receive national championship rings

PALM CITY, Fla. — Magoffin County native Presley Smith and her Indian River State College softball teammates have received their national championship rings.

Indian River State College honored its 2024 NJCAA Division 1 National Champion softball team with a championship ring ceremony at Hammock Creek Golf Club on Monday, Nov. 18. This national title team compiled a 57-10 record, leading the nation in strikeouts (447) and stolen bases (276). Thriving on the field and in the classroom, the Indian River State College softball team recorded a 3.46 GPA, its highest ever.

Excelling during her freshman campaign, Smith helped to lead Indian River State to the national title.

As a freshman, Smith batted .429 with a team-high 88 hits.

Smith earned numerous accolades during her freshman season at Indian River State, including the following: Academic All-Conference, First Team All-Conference, All-Conference Tournament Team, First Team All-State, State Champion, World Series All-Tournament Team, NJCAA DI World Series National Champion.
