Virtual Academy offered next school year

SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County Schools announced last week they will be offering a virtual option for the upcoming school year, with the deadline to enroll children as virtual students set for July 9.

Magoffin County Schools will offer a K-12 Virtual Academy for the 2021-2022 school year, in addition to daily in-person instruction. Parents must complete an application online by next Friday, July 9, and following the submission, an administrator will call to schedule a meeting to review all policies and procedures for virtual learning.

The school district released some of the policies for the Virtual Academy, including students must enroll for at least one full semester, until December 17, 2021. Students must complete all state testing requirements associated with their grade level and must actively participate in “live” meets, maintaining acceptable academic performance.

Perhaps the biggest change from the last school year, the students who participate in virtual-only classes will not be allowed to participate in any extra or co-curricular activities.

For more information, contact the Magoffin County Board of Education at 606-349-6117 or email chris.meadows@magoffin.kyschools.us.

The application for the Virtual Academy is available at https://forms.gle/8Sy8qwiCT6zVrhHs8.

Parents who intend to send their children to in-person classes do not need to take any action.
