SALYERSVILLE – The Magoffin County Woman’s Club donated $5,000 to the Magoffin County Rescue Squad this week.
On Monday, March 29, five members of the Woman’s Club presented the check to Magoffin County Rescue Squad Captain Carter Conley.
Margaret Arnett told Mortimer Media Group, “We’re presenting a check to the Magoffin County Rescue Squad because I know they need our help. The Woman’s Club is so proud to help them out.”
Conley expressed gratitude for the much-needed donation, stating, “I know they’ve had to do a lot of volunteerism to make this money up. People don’t realize volunteerism isn’t just fire and rescue. It’s these clubs that volunteer to help support us. Thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts.”
Amanda Prater, with the Woman’s Group, confirmed that she baked cakes to sell chances to raise some of the money.
Arnett also noted that Conley treated her son very well, with Conley explaining that her son, Barry Arnett, was a first lieutenant of the rescue squad for many years, serving as one of the founding members, and helped them all so much prior to his passing.
