Hornets split two games with LCC

WHITESBURG – Visiting Magoffin County split two high school baseball games with Letcher County Central on Saturday, April 17.

Magoffin County and Letcher County Central met in the Kentucky Farm Bureau Classic.

The Hornets outlasted Letcher County Central 11-8.

In another game, Letcher County Central blanked Magoffin County 10-0 in six innings.

Magoffin County 11, Letcher County Central 8:

Magoffin County connected for 15 hits in an 11-8 win over Letcher County Central in the Kentucky Farm Bureau Classic on Saturday, April 17.

Lucas Litteral started on the mound for the Hornets and picked up the pitching win. Litteral allowed two runs on two hits and three walks over four innings, recording seven strikeouts.

Both Aaron Ward and Trenton Coleman pitched in relief for the Hornets.

Litteral (1-for-2, two RBIs), Coleman (3-for-5, one RBI), Caleb Howard (3-for-4, one RBI), Ethan Salyer (2-for-3), Caleb Wilson (2-for-4), Grant Rudd (2-for-4), Kaden Bowling (1-for-4) and Ian Prewitt (1-for-2, one RBI) each contributed at the plate for Magoffin County.

Letcher County Central 10, Magoffin County 0 (6 innings):

Magoffin County was limited at the plate as homestanding Letcher County Central pulled away to win 10-0 in six innings on Saturday, April 17.

Trenton Coleman pitched in relief and suffered the loss on the mound for the Hornets. Coleman allowed three runs on four hits over two innings.

Colin Litteral started on the mound for Magoffin County, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks over three and one third innings.

Magoffin County managed to collect three hits in the loss. Coleman, Caleb Wilson and Ian Prewitt provided one hit apiece for the Hornets.
