INEZ — Magoffin County has advanced to the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament title game.
Determined Magoffin County outlasted upset-minded Johnson Central 73-67 in overtime in the semifinals of the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament at Martin County High School on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
Magoffin County notched its seventh win in 10 games, improving to 17-12.
In the opening game of the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 27, host Martin County topped Paintsville 77-58. With the win over Paintsville, reigning champion Martin County improved to 20-9.
Magoffin County will meet Martin County in the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament title game at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29.
Girls’ Basketball: Johnson Central defeated Magoffin County 50-17 in the semifinals of the 57th District Girls’ Basketball Tournament at Martin County High School on Monday, Feb. 26.
Magoffin County was meeting Lawrence County in a super region matchup at Prestonsburg High School at press time on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
