PIKEVILLE — Magoffin County reached the semifinals of the UPike 7-on-7 Tournament on Saturday, July 18.
The Hornets compiled a 5-2 overall record in the UPike 7-on-7 Tournament, which was hosted by the University of Pikeville football program.
Nathan Perkins was named Magoffin County head coach in early-May and is preparing to guide the Hornets. Perkins is a University of Pikeville graduate.
For the last three seasons, Perkins was the Hornets’ offensive coordinator. In addition, Perkins was the Herald Whitaker Middle School head coach for the last two seasons. Perkins guided Herald Whitaker Middle School to multiple championships.
Magoffin County is set to host Rowan County for its 2026 season opener on Friday, Aug. 21.
The Hornets have additional home games scheduled versus Floyd Central, Winfield (W.Va.), Estill County, Pike County Central and Lawrence County.
Magoffin County has away games slated versus Perry County Central, West Carter, Powell County and Letcher County Central.
The Hornets continue to make strides in preseason practice.
