SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County will visit Morgan County for its final game in the 2024 high school football season on Friday, Nov. 1.
The Hornets and Cougars are longtime rivals.
Magoffin County has notched four straight wins over Morgan County. The Hornets shut out the Cougars 47-0 in the two teams’ last meeting on Oct. 27, 2023.
Magoffin County is 1-8. A member of Class 3A, District 8, Magoffin County recorded a shutout win over Lewis County earlier in the 2024 high school football season. The Hornets have suffered three single digit losses in the current prep gridiron campaign.
Morgan County is 4-5. Not currently a member of a district, Morgan County has posted wins over East Ridge, Berea, Jenkins and Phelps.
“We are preparing to visit Morgan County for our final game in the 2024 season,” Magoffin County Coach John DeRossett acknowledged at the start of the week. “We will continue to work hard and go for a win every time we take the field. This team and these seniors are special to me. I have enjoyed every minute with them. They are great young men.”
Kickoff for the Magoffin County-Morgan County game is set for 7:30 p.m. in West Liberty.
