Howard paces Magoffin County defensive unit

SALYERSVILLE – Senior running back/linebacker Caleb Howard made an impact both defensively and offensively for Magoffin County during the 2020 high school football season, leading the Hornets in tackles.

SALYERSVILLE – Senior running back/linebacker Caleb Howard made an impact both defensively and offensively for Magoffin County during the 2020 high school football season, leading the Hornets in tackles.

Magoffin County played seven games during a shortened campaign.

Howard paced Magoffin County defensively, recording a team-high 67 tackles for the Hornets. In addition, Howard, who averaged 9.4 tackles per game for Magoffin County, posted two tackles for losses, two fumble recoveries, one sack and one interception as part of an exceptional season.

The Magoffin County defensive unit held each of its first two opponents in the 2020 high school football season to eight points.

Offensively, Howard rushed 23 times for 173 yards. Howard averaged 7.5 yards per carry for the Hornets. Reaching the endzone, Howard scored two two-point conversions.

As a team, Magoffin County rushed 126 times for 682 yards and six touchdowns.

Chipping in through the air and showing his versatility, Howard hauled n three receptions for 33 yards.

As a senior, Howard provided leadership and was instrumental in Magoffin County advancing to the Class 3A Playoffs.
