Jayson “Brent” Handshoe age 50 of Hueysville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. He was born November 21, 1971 in Fort Hood, Texas to Jay and Connie Vanderpool Handshoe.
Survived by his parents, his wife, Michelle Hicks Handshoe, one brother, Shawn Handshoe of Salyersville, Kentucky, two nieces, Holly Handshoe, Paula Hicks, one special nephew, Riley Hicks, with host of aunts, uncle, family, and friends.
Brent is preceded in death by one niece, Addison Handshoe.
Brent was truck driver and a heavy equipment operator by trade and a dedicated Assistant Fire Chief, at the South Magoffin Fire Department.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 16, 2022 from the Rock Fork Old Regular Baptist Church with Larry Patton, Jerry Manns, and Willie Crace officiating. Burial followed in the Vanderpool Cemetery at Hueysville, Kentucky.
Today our fire family lost one of its finest. We extend our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies to South Magoffin Volunteer Fire Department and the family of Assistant Chief, Brent Handshoe. We will mourn the loss of a selfless caring soul but rejoice in knowing he is no longer suffering. Brent battled a lengthy illness but never let it hinder his devotion to his community and his department. His legacy will live on in all those that knew and loved Assistant Chief Brent Handshoe, unit 620. He is gone but not forgotten. Rest easy brother, we will take it from here.
