SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County came up short as Paintsville held on to win 10-9 in a 57th District softball game on Monday, April 20.
Kira Ratliff pitched for Paintsville and earned the win in the circle. Ratliff recorded eight strikeouts.
Addison Schlick pitched for Magoffin County and took the loss in the circle. Schlick recorded seven strikeouts.
Paintsville scored 10 runs on 10 hits. Ratliff (one hit, one RBI), Rachael Roberts (two hits, two RBIs), Kendall Short (two hits), Maggie Music (one hit, two RBIs), Bentley Smith (one hit, one RBI), Kelsey Woods (one hit, one RBI), Kassidy May (one hit) and Piper O’Bryan (one hit) each excelled offensively for the Lady Tigers. Providing a lift at the plate, Roberts homered in Paintsville’s one-run win.
Magoffin County scored nine runs on eight hits. Kelsey Slone (two hits, one RBI), Baylee Hatfield (two hits, one RBI), Jaycie Wells (one hit, one RBI), Bella Trusty (one hit, one RBI), Kiley Lemaster (one hit), Abby Barnett (one hit) and Kailyn Arnett (one RBI) were Magoffin County’s top offensive contributors in the 57th District game.
Paintsville defeated Magoffin County for the second time in one week. In another close game on Monday, April 13, Paintsville outlasted Magoffin County 6-4.
Both Magoffin County and Paintsville will compete in the 57th District Softball Tournament in less than one month.
