Lady Hornets notch win over Buckhorn

BUCKHORN — Magoffin County pulled away to beat Buckhorn 61-31 on Saturday, Dec. 7.

After registering the win, Magoffin County improved to 1-2.

Magoffin County shot 36.5 percent (23-of-63) from the field. The Lady Hornets made two of 13 three-point field goal attempts.

Magoffin County shot 65 percent (13-of-20) from the free throw line.

Jaylee Reed netted 16 points to lead a group of four Magoffin County scorers in double figures.

Accompanying Reed in double figures for Magoffin County, Bella Trusty scored 13 points, Macy Williams netted 11 points and Abby Barnett tallied 10 points.

Williams recorded a double-double for Magoffin County, claiming 16 rebounds.

Nine different players broke into Magoffin County’s scoring column. The additional scorers for Magoffin County were Abigail Bradley (four points), Emily Sluss (two points), Jerrica Reed (two points), Maddie Salyer (two points) and Karly Jenkins (one point).

Limited offensively, Buckhorn shot 22.9 percent (11-of-48) from the field. The Lady Cats made three of 15 three-point field goal attempts.

Buckhorn managed to shoot 60 percent (six-of-10) from the free throw line in the matchup.

The scorers for Buckhorn were Haylee-Drew Blank (nine points), Haley Stidham (six points), Lyla Wooten (six points), Greenlee Deaton (six points), Chelsea Mullins (two points) and Ashlynn Adams (two points).
