SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is seeded fourth in the 57th District Girls’ Basketball Tournament, which will begin on Monday, Feb. 24.
Host Magoffin County is seeded behind Paintsville (third), Martin County (second) and Johnson Central (first).
However, Magoffin County, which remains a young team on the rise, showed improvement throughout the 2024-25 girls’ high school basketball regular season.
Magoffin County is slated to meet one seed Johnson Central in the opening game of the 57th District Girls’ Basketball Tournament at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24. The winner of the Magoffin County/Johnson Central matchup will advance to the 57th District Girls’ Basketball Tournament championship game.
Johnson Central swept a two-game series from Magoffin County during the 2024-25 girls’ high school basketball regular season.
Martin County and Paintsville are matched up in the nightcap of the 57th District Girls’ Basketball Tournament at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24.
During the regular season, Martin County and Paintsville split two games.
The winners from the Magoffin County/Johnson Central and Martin County/Paintsville matchups will meet in the 57th District Girls’ Basketball Tournament Championship Game at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26,
