Lady Hornets shut out Betsy Layne

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County shut out Betsy Layne 10-0 in six innings on Thursday, April 23.

Homestanding Magoffin County gradually pulled away to win convincingly.

The Lady Hornets won for the fourth time in five games, improving to 8-11. Magoffin County recorded its second straight shutout win.

Addison Schlick pitched a three-hit shutout for Magoffin County and earned the win in the circle. Schlick recorded eight strikeouts.

Marissa Blankenship pitched for Betsy Layne and suffered the loss in the circle. Blankenship posted five strikeouts.

Magoffin County scored 10 runs on 12 hits. Jaycie Wells (three hits, four RBIs), Macy Williams (three hits, one RBI), Kiley Lemaster (two hits), Maci Minix (one hit, one RBI), Kelsey Slone (one hit), Karissa Keeton (one hit), Kailyn Arnett (one hit), Baylee Hatfield (one RBI) and Abby Barnett (one RBI).each contributed at the plate in Magoffin County’s 10-run win. Wells, Williams, Keeton and Arnett all doubled. Delivering a pair of extra-base hits, Williams legged out a triple.

Magoffin County notched its second win over Betsy Layne in the 2026 high school softball season.
