SALYERSVILLE — Winning convincingly, Magoffin County defeated Jackson City 17-7 in five innings on Friday, April 17.
The Lady Hornets gradually pulled away to win convincingly.
Ava Hensley started in the circle for Magoffin County and earned the win. Hensley pitched two and one-third innings and struck out two Jackson City batters.
Karissa Keeton pitched two and two-thirds innings in relief for Magoffin County and claimed the save. Keeton recorded five strikeouts.
Magoffin County scored 15 runs on 11 hits. The players contributing at the plate for Magoffin County in its 10-run win were Jaycie Wells (three hits, three RBIs), Finley Rudd (two hits, three RBIs), Kiley Lemaster (two hits, two RBIs), Abby Barnett (two hits, one RBI), Kelsey Slone (two hits), Baylee Hatfield (one hit, one RBI), Ellie Allen (one hit, one RBI), Paityn Risner (one hit) and Lucy Whitaker (one hit). Wells, Rudd and Slone each doubled twice. Connecting for another extra-base hit, Hatfield doubled once.

Addison Schlick earned the win in the circle for the Lady Hornets. Schlick pitched six innings in relief.
