SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is scheduled to open the 2022 high school volleyball season at Lawrence County on Monday, Aug. 15.
High school volleyball teams from throughout the state are slated to compete in season openers in mid-August.
Magoffin County and Lawrence County are former 57th District rivals. Currently, Lawrence County competes in the neighboring 58th District.
The start time for the Magoffin County-Lawrence County volleyball match is 6 p.m.
In addition to Lawrence County, Magoffin County’s 2022 schedule includes additional opponents Morgan County, Betsy Layne, Paintsville, Prestonsburg, Jackson City, Johnson Central, Piarist School, Menifee County, Hazard, Martin County, Shelby Valley and June Buchanan.
Magoffin County is slated to visit Morgan County on Tuesday, Aug. 16.
Following back-to-back matches on the road, Magoffin County is scheduled to host former 15th Region champion Betsy Layne for a home opener on Thursday, Aug. 18.
Magoffin County compiled a 5-20 record in the 2021 high school volleyball season. However, Magoffin County made strides on the court in 2021. Showing improvement, Magoffin County notched back-to-back wins during the final week of the 2021 high school volleyball season.
Magoffin County competes in the 57th District. In addition to Magoffin County, the 57th District includes Johnson Central, Martin County and Paintsville.

Magoffin County will compete in the 57th District Volleyball Tournament in mid-October.
