INA, Ill. — Rend Lake College freshman Lucas Litteral has been named the NJCAA Region 24 Pitcher of the Year.
Region 24 is made up of teams from Lower Illinois. In addition to Rend Lake College, Wabash Valley College, John A. Logan College, Southwestern Illinois College, Lincoln Trail College, Frontier Community College, Kaskaskia College, Lake Land College, Olney Central College, Southeastern Illinois College and Shawnee Community College are Region 24, Division 1 members.
A Magoffin County High School graduate, Litteral excelled throughout his freshman season. Leading Rend Lake on the mound, Litteral put together an 8-3 record and a 2.91 ERA in his debut college campaign.
Litteral made 13 starts and pitched 80.1 innings for the Warriors.
Rend Lake competes in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC).
In addition to earning the pitcher of the year honor, Litteral was named All-Region and All-GRAC.
Litteral is poised to enter 2024 as one of the most talented returning junior college baseball pitchers in the nation.
