PAINTSVILLE — Paintsville managed to edge visiting Magoffin County 6-5 in a 57th District softball game on Thursday, April 18.
Facing a four-run deficit in its final at-bat, Paintsville battled back from behind to claim the victory.
Molly Music pitched for Paintsville and claimed the win in the circle. Music posted 11 strikeouts.
Pitching in relief for Magoffin County, Jaden Williams suffered the loss. Williams pitched two-thirds of an inning.
Laney Bledsoe started in the circle for Magoffin County and pitched six and one-third innings. Bledsoe recorded nine strikeouts.
Paintsville plated six runs on 11 hits. Maggie Music (one hit, one RBI), Chessa Collins (two hits, one RBI), Grier Collins (two hits), Nataleigh Webb (two hits), Kaylyn Woods (two hits), Kendra Runyon (one hit, three RBIs), Molly Music (one hit) and Kelsey Woods (one RBI) each delivered offensively for Paintsville in its come-from-behind win.
Magoffin County scored five runs on five hits. Bledsoe (one hit, one RBI), Williams (two hits), Katie Carty (one hit, two RBIs) and Kayleigh Lemaster (one hit, two RBIs) each contributed offensively for the Lady Hornets. Supplying an extra-base hit for Magoffin County, Lemaster doubled.
