Magoffin County falls to Lawrence County in 2A, Section 8 Tournament

BUCKLEYS CREEK — Magoffin County couldn’t battle back from behind as Lawrence County pulled away to win 16-2 in five innings during the 2A, Section 8 Softball Tournament at Pike County Central High School on Wednesday, April 10.

Taylor Blevins pitched a complete game for Lawrence County, claiming the win in the circle. Blevins recorded 11 strikeouts.

Laney Bledsoe started in the circle for Magoffin County and suffered the loss.

In addition to Bledsoe, Magoffin County sent Jaden Williams and Ava Hensley out to pitch during the tournament game.

Lawrence County scored 16 runs on 15 hits. Dani Crum (four hits, five RBIs), Bree Jones (three hits, two RBIs), Addalyn Woods (three hits, one RBI), Abby Nelson (two hits, one RBI), Abby Maynard (one hit, two RBIs), Gracie Preece (one hit, one RBI) and Brooklyn Ellis (one hit) each produced offensively for the Lady Bulldogs. Both Crum and Jones homered.

Magoffin County plated two runs on four hits. Katie Carty led Magoffin County at the plate, finishing one-for-two with a home game and two RBIs. Williams, Bledsoe, Carty and Maci Minix each delivered one hit for the Lady Hornets.
