SALYERSVILLE — Regrouping after back-to-back losses, Magoffin County shut out rival Morgan County 3-0 in a high school volleyball match on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Magoffin County defeated Morgan County 25-15, 25-22, 25-9.
Winning handily, Magoffin County posted its second win over 16th Region member Morgan County in the 2022 high school volleyball season.
Ten different players contributed for Magoffin County in the shutout win.
The Hornets’ attack featured Allie Rodriguez (8 digs, 2 service aces), Alyssa Torices (5 kills, 1 block, 20 digs, 3 service aces), Mackenzie Elkins (1 kill, 16 assists, 11 digs, 6 service aces), Carlee Adams (2 assists, 7 digs), Carley Allen (3 kills, 1 block, 2 digs, 3 service aces), Makenna Jordan (6 kills, 2 blocks, 7 assists, 16 digs, 4 service aces), Alison Cantrell (6 kills, 1 block, 1 dig), Daylin Patrick (6 digs), McKenzie Young (5 kills, 1 block, 6 digs, 1 service ace) and Avery Preston (5 kills, 1 dig).
Alyssa Blair (1 kill), Gracie Evans (3 digs), Irelyn Holbrook (1 kill, 1 block, 1 dig), Olivia Wright (7 assists, 3 digs, 3 service aces), Paris Jordan (3 kills, 1 block, 1 dig, 1 service ace), Madison Blankenship (1 kill) and Kailey Blair (1 kill) each chipped in for visiting Morgan County.
Magoffin County returned to the win column after dropping two straight matches to 15th Region rivals Paintsville and Prestonsburg.
