Magoffin County turns back East Ridge

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County won its regular season finale, defeating East Ridge 45-39 on Friday, Feb. 23.

Following the win, Magoffin County improved to 3-25.

East Ridge dropped to 14-13 after suffering the loss.

Magoffin County shot 32.1 percent (17-of-53) from the field. The Lady Hornets made six of 24 three-point field goal attempts.

Magoffin County connected on five of 10 free throw attempts.

Macy Williams scored 14 points to lead the Lady Hornets. Joining Williams in double figures for Magoffin County, Jaylee Reed netted 12 points.

Aiding Magoffin County in its win, Bella Trusty posted eight points, Emily Sluss contributed six points and Abby Barnett added five points.

Productive inside, Barnett secured 10 rebounds.

East Ridge shot 36.8 percent (14-of-38) from the field. The Lady Warriors made five of 17 three-point field goal attempts.

East Ridge connected on six of 18 free throw attempts.

Olivia Stanley scored 18 points to lead East Ridge in the matchup.

Stanley drained four of seven three-point field goal attempts.

Narrowly missing double figures for East Ridge, Makenzie Sawyers netted nine points.

Rounding out East Ridge’s scoring, Sydney Thacker and Kourtlee Keene posted six points apiece.

Thacker paced East Ridge inside, clearing out 10 rebounds.

Magoffin County notched its second straight win.
