Magoffin County’s Cross Country Team will head to state

The Magoffin County Cross Country Team competed at the KHSAA Regional Championships on Friday. Schools included in the Region 7 2A division include Belfry, Estill County, Floyd Central, Knott Central, Lawrence County, Letcher Central, Perry Central, Pike Central, Powell County and Magoffin County.

Congratulations to our cross country teams! Matthew Hall received an 8th place medal with his best time of 20:15 and the boy’s team placed 4th overall earning them an advancement to the state championships! Karah Lafferty placed as a state qualifier with her best time of 26:51. All runners did a great job and we are so proud of them. We look forward to heading to the state championships on Friday in Bourbon County.

Congratulations to our elementary cross country team competing in the Mountain Elementary XC Classic Championship held in Morgan County. The boys 4th grade and under team captured the runner up trophy competing against Bath County, Morgan County, Owsley County and Elliott County. Results of the 2K are Cruz Minix finished in second place (9:34), Jackson Owens in 5th (10:16), Zayden Bailey in 7th (11:00), Braxton in 10th (11:26), Hunter Lovely in 13th (12:19), Jase Miller in 15th (12:53), Aiden Bingham in 16th (13:03), Connor Howard in 17th (13:27), and Jesse Howard in 21st (15:55).

In the girls 4th grade and under, Kendyl Minix captured the 3rd place medal with a time of 10:45.

In the boys 6th grade and under race Jason Miller captured the first place medal with an impressive time of 9:21! Jackson Salyer placed 4th (11:59).

We are so proud of the elementary team and their accomplishments this season.
