WEST LIBERTY — The Magoffin County boys’ and girls’ cross country teams placed seventh in the KHSAA Class 2A, District 7 Meet at Morgan County High School on Saturday, Oct. 21.
Walker Russell, Matthew Hall, Luke Wireman, Hayden Mullins, Eli Howard, Darrin Phipps, and Sullivan Rice comprised the Magoffin County boys’ cross country team.
Miley Back, Abigail Skaggs, Candyce Phipps, Madison McNeilley, Olivia Wittes, Lashae Allen and Abigail Skaggs comprised the Magoffin County girls; cross country team.
Russell finished third as an individual state qualifier with a time of 19:53 in the KHSAA Class 2A, Region 7 Boys’ 5,000 Meter Run.
Back finished fifth as an individual state qualifier with a time of 29:29 in the KHSAA Class 2A, Region 7 Girls’ 5,000 Meter Run.
“We are so proud of these amazing athletes, and we have had a great season,” Magoffin County Coach Tonya Ward commented.
Russell and Back will each compete at the KHSAA State Cross Country Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday, Oct. 28.
