Preston resigns as MCHS Dance Coach

SALYERSVILLE — Longtime Magoffin County High School Dance Team Coach Andrea Preston has stepped away from the program after a decade.

Mackenzie Castle is the new head coach of the Magoffin County dance program, which held a clinic on Monday, June 19.

Following the clinic, the Magoffin County dance program conducted tryouts on Wednesday, June 21.

To confirm her move, Preston posted the following on Facebook:

“After receiving many messages, I figured it was time to make a post. After 11 years of coaching the MCHS Dance Team, I felt like it was my time to let it go. I have enjoyed working with so many young ladies throughout these years. We’ve laughed, cried, loved and learned together, I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything. I’d like to thank the community for always supporting my team through fundraising, attending games and the applause after each performance. Although I will miss it, I feel like I passed my responsibilities to a great dancer and leader, Mackenzie Castle. Her leadership, experience and dedication to the sport will only take it to the next level. Thank you all for 11 great years.”

The MCHS Dance Team is preparing for the 2023-24 schoolyear, which will begin in August. The squad competes in multiple competitions in addition to performing at several games.
