Vivian Lykins Conley

Vivian Lykins Conley, age 65, a resident of Rockhouse Subdivision in Salyersville, Kentucky, widow of Carter Conley, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021.

Vivian was born November 25, 1955, in Paintsville, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Arlie and Louedith (Conley) Lykins Litton. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Arlie David Lykins and infant Terry Howard Lykins.

Vivian’s loving husband of 38 years, Edwin Carter Conley, passed away September 12, 2021, and their beloved son, Joe David “JD” Conley, passed away December 27, 2018.

Vivian is survived by a devoted son, Robert Carter “Robbie” Conley and wife Veronica of Morehead, Kentucky; one precious granddaughter, Ryliegh Addysen Nikol Conley of Morehead, Kentucky; three loving sisters and their husbands, Sue and Gary Ferguson of Flat Gap, Kentucky, Gaye and Mike Harmon of Owingsville, Kentucky and Cristy and Tom Copley of Louisa, Kentucky; and special nieces and nephews, extended family, and many dear friends who will miss her greatly and remember her with love.

Vivian enjoyed every facet of her life. She served as secretary for two county attorneys, was an insurance agent for a number of years, a child care provider, and an ardent supporter of Carter’s passion, the Magoffin County Rescue Squad. She was always available and willing to help whenever and wherever she was needed.

Vivian’s good-hearted qualities included love and much laughter. Viv could find something to laugh about, no matter how dire the situation. Her love for family and friends was often expressed through hams, turkeys, cakes and candies she made and passed along to those who were sick, bereaved, in need, or just because she thought someone needed it!! No doubt she and Carter fed thousands of police officers, firefighters, and rescue squad members, as well as family and friends through the years.

During the last years, Vivian helped numerous working mothers by caring for their children in her home. Aidyn, Lillie, Blake, Drake, Baby Gray, Ava, Bristol, Christian, Turner, Kyson, Mac, and Bella were dear and precious to “Bibby” and held a very special place in her heart—as she will in theirs for years to come.

Vivian was a member of Prater Memorial United Methodist Church for many years.

A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Prater Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Jack T. Howard and Pastor John Blanton officiating.
