SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County High School senior Zane Whitaker is headed to the next level.
Whitaker signed with the University of Pikeville swimming program during a ceremony held in the Magoffin County High School Library on Tuesday, May 7.
A standout student-athlete, Whitaker led Magoffin County throughout the 2023-24 swimming season.
Whitaker earned two medals during the KHSAA Region Nine Swimming & Diving Championships at Eastern Kentucky University in February, placing sixth in the Boys’ 50 Yard Freestyle.
Delivering another solid performance, Whitaker finished seventh in the Boys’ 100 Yard Freestyle.
Out of the water, Whitaker was a key player for the Magoffin County boys’ basketball team, which captured its first 15th Region title in March.
