Williams homers in Magoffin County’s loss to Knott Central

SALYERSVILLE — Senior Jaden Williams connected for her first home run in the 2024 high school softball season, but it wasn’t enough as Knott County Central held on to win 8-5 on Thursday, March 28.

Following the loss, Magoffin County dropped to 0-4.

Knott County Central scored first and never trailed. Magoffin County faced a five-run deficit before pushing across its first run in the bottom half of the fourth inning.

Knott County Central starting pitcher Garbielle Slone earned the win in the circle. Slone pitched the first five innings.

Carolyne Moberly pitched the final two innings in relief for Knott County Central and claimed the save.

Slone and Moberly each logged two strikeouts.

Williams pitched a complete game and suffered the loss in the circle. The Magoffin County pitcher managed to record five strikeouts over seven innings.

Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Slone finished three-for-four.

Aiding Knott County Central offensively, Moberly, Ava Slone, Addison Conley and Callie Sandlin each contributed two hits. Conley doubled for visiting Knott County Central.

Magoffin County plated five runs on 10 hits. Williams (two hits, one RBI), Mylee Voll (two hits, two RBIs), Kayleigh Lemaster (two hits), Maci Minix (one hit, two RBIs), Kiley Lemaster (one hit) and Laney Bledsoe (one hit) each contributed offensively for Magoffin County in the matchup. Both Voll and Kiley Lemaster doubled.
