IVTYTON – A Magoffin County man was tragically killed in a freak accident on Monday while working to move a mobile home.
Malcom Barry, 63 years old, had been employed by Conley’s Transport for more than 10 years, died on July 20 while the business was moving a mobile home and were in the process of setting it up at Cain Trailer Court, at the junction of Burning Fork and KY Rt. 114.
The Magoffin County Coroner’s Office and Magoffin County Sheriff Department are investigating the accident, with officials telling Mortimer Media Group the crew was in the process of leveling the single wide mobile home and had it nearly finished and up on blocks when something shifted, with the trailer moving a total of almost 8 feet, falling on top of Barry, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
At press time, funeral services are pending, but are in care of Salyersville Funeral Home.
Conley Transport posted the following to social media on Tuesday:
We at Conley’s Transport are absolutely devastated by the loss of one of our crew members.
Yesterday, the worst case scenario happened, and we lost Malcolm due to a tragic freak accident.
He was not only a great employee, but an even greater person and friend. We’ve been friends and made countless memories together over the past 10+ years.
There will never be another person like Malcom. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Please continue to pray for his family during this heartbreaking time, as well as our crew as we grieve this tremendous loss.
Rest in peace, Malcolm Barry. You will never be forgotten.
