Shirley Sue Cantrell Gibson, age 85, a resident of Falcon Road in Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Salyersville, Kentucky after a lengthy illness.
Born April 5, 1941, in Salyersville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Willie and Julie Hale Cantrell. Husband, Dean Gibson, daughter in law, Janie Gibson, brothers, Emmitt Cantrell, Ken Cantrell, Yearns “Buddy” Cantrell, Arnold Cantrell, Hoover Cantrell, Edwin “Babe” Cantrell, Billy Ray Cantrell, infant Bobby Jo Cantrell, sisters, Virgie Coffee, Elizabeth “Kay” Arnett, Opal Cheek, Beulah Cantrell, Mayme Leiskee, Joyce Edwards, also preceded in death.
Shirley was employed as a CNA untili her retirement. She was a member of the Salyersville Freewill Baptist Church in Salyersville, Kentucky.
Those left to mourn includes sons, Greg Gibsonof Salyersville, Kentucky, Neal Gibson and wife Shawna of Salyersville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Jocelyn Gibson of Salyersville, Kentucky, Zach Gibson and wife Gyonna of Salyersville, Kentucky, Austin Gibson of Salyersville, Kentucky, Jalyssa Holliday and husband Billy Jack of Salyersville, Kentucky, great grandchildren, Phoenyx Holliday of Salyersville, Kentucky, Pierson Holliday of Salyersville, Kentucky, a host of family and friends who love and miss her.
Funeral services for Shirley Sue Gibson wereconducted Monday, October 26, 2026, from the chapel of the Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, Kentucky.
Clergy Floyd Arnett and David Jackson delivered comforting words on the day of service. Interment followed in the Allen Cemetery on White Oak in Salyersville, Kentucky.
