SALYERSVILLE — Paintsville prevented Magoffin County from advancing in the postseason, outlasting the Lady Hornets 10-8 during the semifinals of the 57th District Softball Tournament on Monday, May 19.
The loss eliminated Magoffin County from the 57th District Softball Tournament. Magoffin County exited the 2025 high school softball season 12-13.
Prior to suffering the season-ending loss, Magoffin County held multiple leads in the district tournament game, However, Paintsville scored nine runs over its last three at-bats to claim the win.
Molly Music pitched a complete game for Paintsville and earned the win in the circle. Music recorded 13 strikeouts.
Ava Hensley pitched a complete game for Magoffin County and took the loss in the circle. Hensley recorded four strikeouts.
Players throughout Paintsville’s lineup delivered offensively. Bentley Smith (four hits, one RBI), Grier Collins (three hits, one RBI), Kira Ratliff (three hits), Maggie Music (one hit, one RBI), Molly Music (two hits, four RBIs), Kelsey Woods (two hits, two RBIs), Nataleigh Webb (two hits) and Kendra Runyon (one hit) each thrived offensively for the Lady Tigers. Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Molly Music doubled twice.
Magoffin County plated eight runs on 10 hits. Batters Baylee Hatfield (two hits, two RBIs), Macy Williams (two hits, two RBIs), Kailyn Arnett (two hits, one RBI), Bella Trusty (two hits), Abby Barnett (one hit, one RBI) and Kiley Lemaster (one hit) were each productive for the Lady Hornets. Supplying two extra-base hits, Hatfield doubled twice for Magoffin County during the district tournament game.
