SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County compiled a winning record in the 2026 high school softball season.
The Lady Hornets, under the direction of Coach Tony Skaggs, exited the 2026 high school softball season with a 12-11 record. Magoffin County showed improvement after exiting the 2025 high school softball season 12-13.
Former champion Magoffin County was one of only six 15th Region teams to compile a winning record in the 2026 high school softball season. There are 14 15th Region softball teams.
The Lady Hornets won two or more games on five separate occasions in the 2026 high school softball season. Starting strong in the 2026 high school softball season, Magoffin County won eight of its first 11 games.
Players from six different classes made an impact for Magoffin County in the 2026 high school softball season. Seventh graders-seniors delivered regularly for the Lady Hornets. Magoffin County assembled various lineups in its latest campaign. The players who contributed for Magoffin County in its latest campaign were Kelsey Slone, Jaycie Wells, Abby Barnett, Kiley Lemaster, Macy Wiliams, Bella Trusty, Ava Hensley, Karissa Keeton, Maci Minix, Kailyn Arnett, Baylee Hatfield, Finley Rudd, Kaisee Harvey, Addison Schlick, Ellie Allen, Lucy Whitaker, Paityn Risner, Ryann Howard and Sidney Salyer.
The Lady Hornets have carried momentum into the high school softball offseason. After competing in the 57th District Softball Tournament, Magoffin County has turned its focus to the 2027 season, which will open in less than 10 months.
