COON CREEK – A Magoffin County woman was life flighted to a trauma center after a Coon Creek wreck last week.
On Wednesday, January 18, Magoffin County Rescue Squad, EMS and law enforcement all responded to the Coon Creek area, roughly 1,000 feet from the mouth of Improvement Road, where an SUV, driven by a local woman, went over an embankment, striking a tree and landing on its side.
The driver was still inside the vehicle upon the arrival of emergency personnel, and they had to extricate her from the SUV, removing part of the roof to get her out safely.
From there, she was taken by ambulance to the top of the Improvement Hill, where a landing zone was established, and she was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital, where she was treated for serious injuries.
The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the wreck, and she was alert and talking to emergency personnel.
Her condition is not known at press time.
