120 ACTS OF KINDNESS

SALYERSVILLE – In honor of its 120th anniversary, a bank with branches in Magoffin and surrounding counties decided to pay it back with 120 acts of kindness at the local nursing home.

Cody Prater, with Peoples Bank and a Magoffin County native, told Mortimer Media Group he was asked what they could do in the community as part of their 120th year celebration.

“They initially asked me what I thought about doing something in the community,” Prater said. “Of course, we’ve got a lot of good things we can do around here and we plan to do a whole lot more, but we thought we would just start with this. These are the folks that helped us in the past and that’s always been there for us, and sometimes we don’t recognize them as much as we could, so I thought it would be a good place to start.”

The group with Peoples Bank delivered over 100 well-packed bags for the residents of Salyersville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center this week.

“This is Peoples Bank’s 120th anniversary and they’ve decided to celebrate by spreading 120 acts of kindness across our footprint, which covers four states – West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and Virginia,” Prater said as the bags were being delivered at the nursing home. “For our community – for Magoffin County – we decided to hand out goody bags and some Easter-themed bags for the nursing home residents.”
